How do I clean burner heads?

Lacanche gas burner heads are made of solid brass. This material is used because of its ability to diffuse heat quickly and retain it.

The use of this noble material, which offers numerous technical advantages

however, that burner heads will naturally change appearance during use.

They therefore require maintenance to preserve or restore their original appearance.

Preliminary recommendations

Brass oxidizes naturally in contact with ambient air. It discolors when heated and stains when exposed to acids.

To avoid having to recondition burner caps too often, make sure to clean them with a damp sponge after each use, and avoid letting acidic liquids run over them.

Restoring burner caps is quick and easy.

Basic equipment required (depending on cleaning level)

  • Recurring pad
  • White vinegar
  • Coarse salt
  • Silver stone
  • Metal polish cleaner
  • Scrubbing cream

Cleaning methods

1) For regular cleaning after light cooking and to avoid stain build-up:

Clean with a sponge and soapy water. Rinse well and dry.

2) For restoration to original condition:

Bring to the boil 2 glasses of water mixed with 2 glasses of white vinegar and a handful of coarse salt.

Dip burner caps into boiling mixture and allow to simmer for 1

minute.

Remove the burner caps from the mixture with a pair of tongs and run them under cold water to cool.

  • Rinse burner caps thoroughly and dry.
